Off the Wall: You Be the Critic!
Our 21st Century viewpoint is different from the way people perceived art when it was first created. In this tour, we will view works from our modern vantage point, and discuss our impressions. Then, we will learn about the goals, limitations, and materials available to artists who created early American portraits, Texas furniture, and paintings of the 1970s. We will become informed critics, perhaps with a new understanding about what we see.
Off the Wall is a curated tour series that explores special topics across SAMA’s collections. Each session is developed and facilitated by passionate docents who can’t wait to share the stories behind SAMA’s most captivating artworks and hidden gems.
