In 2020, the San Antonio Museum of Art launched an initiative to support the city’s visual artists by acquiring works for its collection, aiming to reflect the vibrancy of our community and its rich cultural landscape. Informed by recommendations from a community Advisory Committee, nine artworks by eight San Antonio-based artists were chosen—all first entries by the artists to SAMA’s collection. In conjunction with this collective effort, SAMA has commissioned artist films by Walley Films. During this film screening program, you will hear from the filmmakers and then venture to the exhibition to view the works.
Angela Guerra Walley and Mark Lee Walley have been collaborating as artists, musicians, and filmmakers since they met in 2003. In 2010 they married and founded Walley Films, an independent film studio focusing on collaboration and documentation of the visual and performing arts in San Antonio and Houston, Texas.
Registration required. Capacity is limited.

SAMA is more than a museum; it’s a place to experience art and explore the world in new ways.
