This special exhibition is a tribute to Walter F. Brown’s life as a collector and major patron of the San Antonio Museum of Art. Mr. Brown was a passionate collector of Asian art and a lifetime trustee of the Museum. Along with his wife, Lenora, the Browns gave over 700 works of art to the Museum. This exhibition highlights areas of extraordinary depth and excellence in their Chinese ceramics collection, including Han to Tang dynasty ceramic sculpture, Liao dynasty ceramics, blue and white porcelain from the Ming and Qing dynasties, and porcelain from the 18th and 19th centuries. The exhibition provides a journey through the history of Chinese ceramics and insights into the discerning taste of a remarkable collector.

The San Antonio Museum of Art has a world-renowned Asian art collection, and Chinese ceramics are its greatest strength.
