Past Exhibition
In this survey exhibition of Daniel Lee’s photography from 1993-2010 the artist uses digital technology to create hybrids of human beings and animals, portraying the idea that people often exhibit behavioral, personality, and physical traits which resemble those of animals. Since the early 1990s, Lee has examined human behavior as related to such themes as the Chinese horoscope, Buddhist ceremony, punk night clubs, genetic altering, dreams, and the circus. Lee was born in 1945 in Taiwan, but emigrated to United States to study art in 1970. He currently lives and works in New York City.
Animal Instinct: The Photographs of Daniel Lee is presented in conjunction with FotoSeptiembreUSA and is made possible with generous support from Jerry Gore, the City of San Antonio Office of Cultural Affairs, Taipei Cultural Center, and Texas Commission on the Arts.
