From the Co-Interim Directors
It’s not unusual for the first-time visitor to be astonished at the size and scope of SAMA’s collections. The Museum houses the largest and most comprehensive collection of ancient Egyptian, Greek and Roman, as well as Asian, art in the southern United States. It also has a significant collection of Latin American art, from the Ancient Americas to the present, showcased in the Nelson A. Rockefeller Center for Latin American Art. Our growing contemporary art collection balances some true masterpieces with notable Texas and regional art. Whether it’s exploring international cultures, enjoying our beautiful riverside grounds, dining in our Tre Trattoria Restaurant, or attending a concert, film, or lecture, we hope your experience at the Museum exceeds expectations and that you’ll visit us often.
