Dr. Mark Unno of the University of Oregon will make a presentation on the path of Pure Land Buddhism which became a burgeoning movement in Medieval Japan and today comprises the largest sects of Japanese Buddhism. He will be discussing classical and contemporary images and representations of the Pure Land path that is designed to lead the practitioner beyond life and death, heaven and hell.
