This lecture will present the grandeur and artistic legacy of 17th-century Rome and its influence throughout Europe.  The major artists who transformed the arts will be discussed, including Caravaggio, Carracci, and Bernini. How their revolutionary styles influenced the artists featured in the focus-exhibition Glories of the Baroque, as well as others in Europe, will be highlighted.
