Fahua ware

China, Ming dynasty, 16th century

Glazed stoneware; h. 13 in.; diam. 13 3/4 in.

Gift of Lenora and Walter F. Brown

Distinctive blue, yellow, and green stoneware “fahua” style objects were made in workshops located in both Northern and Southern China during the Ming and  Qing dynasties. Using examples from SAMA’s outstanding fahua collection, this talk explores the development and variation found in these wares.
