Study American portraiture from the 18th century to today. Spend the day with the theatrical and literary dramatic characters – from Shakespeare’s plays to Little Red Riding Hood - in the exhibition Thomas Sully: Painted Performance. Explore how artists construct identities, communicate character traits, and create narrative in portraits. Hand-on workshops provide cross-curricular lessons about creating portraits and establishing narrative through drawing, mixed media, and writing.
Educator Workshops are generously funded by USAA and JP Morgan Chase.
