Due to the popularity of the first Art History 101 lecture, Professor Annie Labatt will give an encore presentation on Altamira - Cave Paintings and Prehistoric Art on Friday, November 8th at 5:30 p.m. Free with Museum admission.
Lecture will begin promptly at 5:30 pm. Since this is an encore presentation, there will not be an accompanying reception. Lecture attendees are welcome to join the Museum’s Second Friday Art Party event afterwards where there will be live music, complimentary hors d’oeuvres, and a cash bar until 8:00 p.m. Art Party is free with Museum admission.
Art History 101... Without the Exams! is a 9-part lecture series covering topics from prehistoric cave paintings to nineteenth-century Romantic Art. Each month, Professor Annie Labatt (UTSA) will focus on a seminal work of art from that time period. Upcoming topics include the Nike of Samothrace/Greek Art (November 15) and the Villa at Boscotrecase/Roman Art (December 6).
Annie Labatt, a native of San Antonio, graduated from Barnard College, and earned her PhD from Yale University. She was the winner of the Rome Prize from the American Academy of Rome. She also held fellowships at Dumbarton Oaks (Harvard University) and at the Metropolitan Museum (New York).
