Students travel East from India to China, and cross the sea to Japan in this Asian-themed workshop, seeing such cultural artifacts as a Tibetan sand mandala, a Japanese carriage (palanquin) and two reconstructed rooms from Imperial China. This workshop concludes with a related art project, and meets many Social Studies, Fine Art and Asian Linguistic and Cultural 3-12 TEKS.

In this workshop students develop a broader understanding of various artistic expressions from the Contemporary period, including the language of art and the discovery of new materials used by artists. This art appreciation experience concludes with a hands-on art project. The workshop meets many Social Studies and Fine Art 3-12 TEKS.

Uncover the lifestyles and beliefs of Ancient Egypt while exploring the Museum’s collection of art and artifacts, including mummy cases, hieroglyphs, statues, and pottery—followed by a hands-on art project. The workshop meets many Social Studies and Fine Art K-12 TEKS and is ideal for all ages/grade levels.

This workshop follows a timeline of cultural and artistic changes as students discover the implications of Columbus’ 1492 voyage. Students will explore the Pre-Columbian, Spanish Colonial, Folk Art and Contemporary art galleries in our Latin American Wing and conclude the trip with a related art project. The workshop meets many Social Studies, Fine Art and Spanish Cultural and Linguistic 3-12 TEKS, and is ideal for World Studies, 4th- and 7th-grade Texas History and Spanish classes.

Learn about the early formation of the United States of America through its paintings and sculptures. Historical discussions include British colonization, the founding of the country, westward expansion and lifestyles from the 17th through 19th centuries. This adventure concludes with a period-appropriate art project. The workshop meets many Social Studies and Fine Art K-12 TEKS and is ideal for 1st-, 5th-, 8th- and 11th-grade Social Studies curricula.

While in the Museum’s galleries, students learn to identify significant examples of religious art and develop a deeper understanding of how art reflects the beliefs of a culture. A hands-on project concludes this workshop. Meets World History 19-22 TEKS. Limited to High School students.

Students will learn about daily life in ancient Greece and Rome by examining objects such as painted vases, marble statues, and mosaics, gaining insight into the social customs, mythological traditions, lifestyles, and artistic achievements of these civilizations. This workshop meets many Social Studies and Fine Art 3-12 TEKS, and is deal for many Social Studies and Literature curricula.
