On behalf of our board and staff, I want to welcome you to the San Antonio Museum of Art!
It’s not unusual for the first-time visitor to be astonished at the size and scope of the Museum’s collections. You may be surprised to learn that SAMA houses the largest and most comprehensive collection of ancient Egyptian, Greek, and Roman as well as Asian art in the southern United States. Additionally, the Museum has a large and significant collection of Latin American art, from Pre-Columbian times to the present, showcased in the Nelson A. Rockefeller Center for Latin American Art. We’re also fortunate to have a fairly extensive and growing collection of Contemporary art that balances some true masterpieces with strengths in Texas and regional art.
We also invite you to preview some of our exciting upcoming special exhibitions and visit the calendar for details on our continual exciting and informative programs. Also, don’t forget to check out the membership section to and explore the benefits of being one of our most important supporters.
Whether it’s exploring international cultures, sharing a special moment with a loved-one, or simply relaxing on our beautiful riverside campus or in the comfortable Café des Artistes, we hope your experience to SAMA exceeds all of your expectations, and that you’ll visit us again and again.
