First Sundays for Families at SAMA: Dia de los Muertos

FREE for children 12 and under.
Join us on Sunday, November 1, 2009 as we celebrate the rich artistic traditions of Día de los Muertos with papel picado, sugar skulls, a special nicho workshop, Posada-inspired prints as well as a tour through the Latin American Folk Art Collection.
Enjoy the acoustic folk corridos of local band Inozentes and taste mouth-watering pan dulce and hot chocolate on SAMA’s new pavilion, along the banks of the San Antonio River. Special altars created by the art students from Brackenridge and Burbank High School in the San Antonio Independent School District will be on display in the Luby Courtyard beginning Tuesday, October 27 through Sunday, November 1. The event is part of SAMA’s First Sundays for Families series where children and families are invited to explore the collections, create art and share Sundays with the family.
First Sundays for Families is free with regular Museum admission, FREE for children 12 and under. Adults $8. General admission is always free for SAMA members.
